Borneo or Kalimantan (River of diamonds) is known for its lush tropical rainforests, rich
fauna and flora. The beautiful gold Arwana (Dragon) fish and Orang Utan are found in this
region. The numerous rivers that criss-crossing Borneo are essential waterways where
floating markets/economic centres can be found. The indigenous Dayak tribe which has rich
culture and arts, is still dominant, Some Dayaks continue to maintain their traditional
way of life. All of these have been a constant source of inspiration to the local artists.
